WASHINGTON DC — The Smith Free Group, a well-known bipartisan consulting firm in Washington DC, today announced Mike Mullen has joined the firm as Senior Vice President.

Jon Deuser, president and CEO of the 38-year-old company said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Mike to our team. He has a reputation as a trusted advisor, effective advocate and policy expert and we know he’ll be an asset to our clients and a good fit for our firm.”

Mullen began his career on Capitol Hill in senior staff positions with members of Congress. He went on to spend 15 years at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), where he played a key role in communications policy, developing strong relationships with members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Senate Commerce Committee and Democratic Leadership. Following his time at NAB, Mike transitioned to multi-client advocacy as a partner at Empire Consulting.

A native of Arlington, Virginia, Mike is a graduate of James Madison University and is the father of two daughters.
